Even a surplus of suffering gets boring after a while, hmm? Funny...

Say, Captain. Next time let's stop at a beach or something. Or maybe you could make a driveby of Tokyo. I'd appreciate the chance for a shopping spree, here. My wardrobe hasn't had an infusion of new things in weeks. It's terrible.

[A put-upon little sigh.] Not to get my hopes up, is anyone around here up for a game?

It's no problem. Nietzscheans enjoy competition. It gives them grounds to improve themselves by facing various opponents. [He had his own rules for games, though, like any good Nietzschean. He sometimes cheated to see if the other person would notice, or what their reaction to it would be. He would sometimes be straight-forward but purposefully rouse suspicions to see how the other player handled strain. Joshua he didn't know, yet, so he would play the game rather straight-forwardly.]

OOC: He's pretty good at strategy games because that's his thing usually. So whether he won or lost he wouldn't argue with a rematch. So we can assume more than one game was played maybe. He's not a table-flipper.

Ooh, telling me all about your life philosophy already, when we've just met? [He grins.] We're hitting first base already. You brought the board, anyway. Would you like the first move?

[OOC haha, maybe they can play a few games and run ties.]

And then like a brilliant person I was thinking of his other board and say the wrong pieces.

It's no great secret. I talk about philosophy all the time. We're also encouraged to be well-rounded.

[They were, anyway. But that's a rant for another day. Now, it's go.] Actually I prefer using the black pieces. So I'll let you take the first move.

It's charming that you think that the Admiral would have any requirements in choosing his wardens or that there's some class of unity they're forced to adhere to. The truth is, I felt more cohesiveness and unity with others as an inmate than I ever has as a warden.

[He tends to like his pawns, to see what he can accomplish with them and with other pieces prepared to strike behind them.] There has never been a more disparate group of individuals that I've encountered and I'm even partial to inductive logic.

He's a man with resources and no sense of responsibility outside of the duties he performs for the ship. I still suspect that he's a part of the ship following automation, rather than a legitimate figurehead.

[He notes that Joshua is a surprisingly aggressive player, though perhaps not all that surprising.]

Tell me, Rhade. How did arriving here change your views on life, the universe, and everything?

[He'll play holding action for now. He's more interested in the conversation.]

[He gives Joshua a strange look.] It didn't.

[He leans back in the chair slightly.] The Barge exists somewhere between an anarchist state and a collectivist utopia. It provides all necessary essentials, and you not only can survive on it, you're forced to. One cannot ascend in rank by their own will, but rather by the will of the Admiral.

The only thing the Barge did for me was redefine my parameters of self-interest, but I would credit my personal associations more for that than the ship.

Just the ones here.

[He's willing to acknowledge them as sort of an energy based thing on the Barge.]
