[Well, this guy (or gal as the case may be) is now choosing to show his (her) charming face on the network for the first time. As a girl Joshua doesn't actually look all that different. The features are a little finer, maybe, the lashes a little longer, but the giggle is no less obnoxious.

Gosh... you know, I don't see how this is so bad. I'm not sure I'd mind staying this way longer, in fact. [A dainty eyelash-flutter directed towards the video feed.] For one thing, girls get much nicer clothes, and they're allowed to like them much more. It's so hard to be a fashionista when you're expected to be getting in fights and grubbing around in the mud.

The whole gamut! I did think of the incest taboo, hee hee. You must know that that's considered to be one of the few universal taboos humans have, but even that was broken in ancient Egypt, where siblings shacked up with each other to keep the royal blood strong. Humans will adapt to anything.

Bestiality, incest, cannibalism, necrophilia, and they're all still regularly practiced.

Of course, if we're talking universal elements of culture, Norm of reciprocity deserves a mention. Thats our two definite cultural universals on the table.

Definite, you say, and yet even those vary from culture to culture and person to person. Human beings are infinitely malleable. As humdrum as any one individual might be, collectively as a species, it's fascinating.

They're as definite as can be with the inevitable exceptions. We're rounding up to encapsulate them as a 'collective species', as you put it.
